How do you know a guy friend likes you more than a friend?

I have a guy friend , i met him recently but soon after i started liking him. before i did he gave me his number and after calling him and few times and working together ( he is my partner in badminton) i notice i like more than i thought i would. sometimes i would notice is pretty sweet and sometimes surpise me by waiting for me. Forgives me when i lose a point and calms me down when i need it. some of my friends say he does act a bit different to me. and we did hang out on weekends but then i still cant tell if he likes me.. and i want to tell him but yet i want him to say something first if feels the same way but yet i dont want to make things akward if i told and him and he doesnt feel that way. but i dont want to wait to long or i mightlose my chance. Help please! what should i do?
