I'm trying to figure out what this show was if it really exists.?

I'm sure the male actor was Gene Wilder. He wore burgundy colored clothes. There was a puppet mouse or rat that was a female. I can't really remember what the show was about. I tried looking it up all over the internet from amazon to reading through Wilder's wikipedia biography. It may have aired somewhere between '88 and '92.
